Pont d’Avignon is on the Ile de la Barthelasse in the centre of the river, within walking distance of the town centre, via the bridge, or on the free ferry. Separated by trees and flowering shrubs, there are 265 level touring pitches, some on grass and some with gravel; 200 have 10A electricity. All are shaded and neatly laid out with good access. A good play area, tennis courts and volleyball pitch are in the centre of the site separating the two halves. The restaurant, bar and terrace overlook the attractive pool. During the season there are musical and themed evenings in the restaurant.
With its island situation, a few pitches have views of the Pope’s palace, which is floodlit at night. Although close to the historic centre of Avignon, the site has a very rural feel, due no doubt to the many flowering trees and shrubs and the fact it is on an island. Good English is spoken at reception.
Facilities at Terracamps Camping du Pont d’Avignon
Five adequate sanitary blocks (two open in low season) have good accessible facilities. Washing machines, dryer. Motorhome services. Well stocked shop. Bar/restaurant and takeaway. Swimming pool, paddling pool and jacuzzi (15/5-15/9). TV/games room. Boules. Play area with climbing frame. Tennis (free). Bicycle hire (and electric). Internet access. WiFi throughout (charged). Bungalow, tents and mobile homes for hire.
Directions to Terracamps Camping du Pont d’Avignon
Site is on an island in River Rhône. From A7 motorway leave at junction 23 and head for Avignon Centre. Follow D224 along river into Avignon. Follow signs for Camping Barthelasse, and over Pont Daladier. Take care on approach road just before bridge - do not go under bridge. Just after crossing first section of river, fork right to site in 500 m.
