Le Paluet is a former municipal site and a member of the Terracamps Group, located in the Zone de Loisirs, not far from the town centre and all its amenities. Set amongst green rolling hills, on the banks of a lake, the campsite has access to three separate swimming pools offering something for everyone. The 82 spacious pitches (some with steep access) are shady and separated by hedges (long leads needed for many). For nature lovers, Matour makes an ideal base for exploring the local countryside with its undulating farmland, pasture and woodland whether on foot, by bicycle or by car. This is a good family site with ample entertainment on the doorstep.

The local area offers many opportunities for serious athletes, as well as those who are just looking for some light exercise. There is a full programme of watersports, from beginners’ swimming lessons to introductory courses in scuba diving, and outdoor field sports facilities. The man-made pond is well kept and restocked every year with a variety of fish. Protected nesting areas have been established for wild fowl.

The sanitary blocks are modern, clean and well equipped, with very good accessible facilities. Baby room. Laundry facilities. Sauna (free). Bread to order. Bar, snack bar and takeaway (July/Aug, shared with pool users). Access to Leisure Centre facilities including heated outdoor pools with slide and paddling pool (June-Aug). Jacuzzi. TV/games room. Play area. Children’s clubs and entertainment (July/Aug). Multisports court. Tennis courts. Pétanque. Minigolf. Fishing licences. WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Terracamps Camping de Matour

From the direction of Macon take N79 to La Garde and then D987 south towards Matour. On entering Matour fork left opposite the Tourist Office. After 400 m. turn left into rue de la Piscine, and site is 100 m. on right.
