Alan Rogers Review of Lahn Camping

Pleasantly situated directly on the bank of the River Lahn between the autobahn and the town of Limburg, the site is a useful overnight stop for travellers along the Köln-Frankfurt stretch of the A3. The site is on level grass with 200 touring pitches, each about 50-60 sq.m. All have 6A electricity, but may need long cables, some of which may have to cross a road. A few of the larger trees have been removed, giving a pleasing mix of open and shaded pitches. The site is very popular with many nationalities and can become very crowded at peak times, so arrive early. There is some road and rail noise day and night.

The pitches are on either side of tarmac roads from the main access road that runs the length of the site. Touring pitches are mainly on the left of the site, with those on the right and all of those fronting onto the river, being taken up by seasonal units. This is a rather basic site but you may be tempted to stay longer as there are other attractions nearby, notably a very fine swimming pool complex adjacent. The attractive old town of medieval buildings, with its many shops, bars and restaurants is only a 15 minute stroll away.

Facilities at Lahn Camping

The main sanitary block near reception is old and facilities are rather tired. A better quality, heated block at the far end of the site is a welcome addition. Showers (by token). Washing machines, dryers, cookers. Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Bar/restaurant (evenings and Sundays) offers simple meals and takeaway. Small shop (not Sunday p.m). Fishing (permit on payment). Play area. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Lahn Camping

Leave A3 autobahn at Limburg-Nord exit and follow road towards town. Turn left into Schleusenweg at traffic lights just before the bridge over River Lahn. Site is on right, just past the swimming pool. Do not enter the Stellplatz – signs are confusing.
