One of the Knaus Group sites, Rhein-Mosel Koblenz overlooks the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel rivers where the city of Koblenz has stood since Roman times. One of the most visited cities in Germany, it is well served by this large, busy and efficient site. Unusually, there are no seasonal pitches here, leaving the whole site available for touring units and tents. All pitches have 16A electricity. There is some shade from young trees, but the site has an open feel with views of the rivers, the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument and the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. There is some noise from rail and river traffic, but our sleep was not disturbed.

In addition to regular pitches, there are also twelve motorhome night-stop places outside the barrier at reduced rates (electricity and toilets an extra charge). Although more expensive, riverside pitches afford a pleasant stay; most visitors, however, move on after exploring Koblenz’s celebrated centre. There are now 27 ‘comfort’ pitches and more are due for upgrading. The campsite shop is small, but a supermarket is just outside the gate. There are many boat trips available in Koblenz and a cable car runs to the Fortress with fabulous views of the city and rivers.

Two excellent toilet blocks with free showers. One block has a baby bathing and changing room, whilst the other has an accessible suite. Washing machine and dryer at each block. Electric hotplates at each block (slot meters). Motorhome services. Small restaurant with sensibly priced family fare. Small playground. Boules. Dog bath. WiFi throughout (charged). Twelve overnight motorhome stands outside the barrier (charged).

From A48 autobahn, take exit 10 Koblenz North. Follow B9 into Koblenz. Take care with lanes and follow campsite signs (they are not named, just symbols). From the south on the B49, arrive in Koblenz and follow signs to B9 and then campsite signs.
