Alan Rogers Review of Heathfield Farm Camping
Situated between Yarmouth & Freshwater, Heathfield is a pleasant contrast to many of the other sites on the Isle of Wight in that it is a ‘no frills’ sort of place. Despite its name, it is no longer a working farm. A large, open meadow provides large grass and level pitches with 16A electricity. The large field is divided into three distinct areas by large mature hedges. There is no shop as you are only eight minutes from the centre of Freshwater.
The site, in part, overlooks Colwell Bay and across the Solent towards Milford-on-Sea and Hurst Castle. One of the fields has a children's play area in the middle of a large grass meadow surrounded by pitches. There is also a playing field for ball games and a wildflower meadow with a perimeter mown for dog walking.
It is ideal for visiting attractions on the western side of the island including Totland and Freshwater Bays, The Needles and Old Battery, Compton Down and Mottistone Manor Garden. The Military road which runs from Freshwater Bay to Saint Catherine’s Point gives spectacular coastal views.
Facilities at Heathfield Farm Camping
The main sanitary facilities are housed in a modern, ingeniously customised, prefabricated unit, including hot showers and baby changing. A second similar unit has WCs and washbasins in cubicles plus accessible sanitary visitors. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Ice pack service. Playing field. Bicycle hire arranged. WiFi throughout (charged). No commercial vehicles are accepted. Gate locked 22.30-07.00.

The site is just minutes away from the Lymington to Yarmouth ferry terminal. From A3054 north of Totland and Colwell turn into Heathfield Road where site is signed. Site entrance is on right after a short distance.
