Located a few kilometres west of Alvdal, this peaceful little site with its traditional turf-roofed buildings, makes an excellent base from which to explore the area. The 45 touring pitches are on level, neatly trimmed grass, served by gravel access roads and with electricity (10A) available to all.

Some pitches are in the open, others under tall pine trees spread along the river bank. There are also 13 cabins to rent all year round. Across the bridge on the other side of the river and main road, the site owners also operate the local, well-stocked supermarket and post office.

The site has its own small play area but also has use of a large play area in the school grounds. This is accessed by steps at the rear of the central sanitary block. There is skiing near the site in winter.

Reception is able to give information on local activities and is willing to assist any guest with specific requests. There is fishing on site and walks signposted from the entrance. The UNESCO World Heritage town of Røros is 75 km. to the northeast of this charming little site, and the Dovrefjell National Park is also within comfortable driving distance.

Facilities at Gjelten Bru Camping

Heated toilet facilities are clean and housed in two buildings. One unit has been refurbished and is well appointed, the other is of newer construction. There is a mix of conventional washbasins and stainless steel washing troughs, and hot showers (on payment). Separate accessible unit with WC, basin, shower and handrails. Two small kitchens provide sinks, hot plates and an oven, all free of charge. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. TV room. Swings. Fishing.

Directions to Gjelten Bru Camping

On the road 29 at Gjelten 3.5 km. west of Alvdal. Turn over the river bridge opposite village store and post office, and site is immediately on right.
