This large, well equipped holiday site offers a wide range of activities and is also a good base for visiting the Black Forest. Close to the reception is a touring area and a section of hardstanding for 12 motorhomes. The 300 touring pitches (out of 765 overall) all have electricity connections (all 16A Euro sockets) and include 235 with water and drainage, but little shade. Two of the site’s lakes are used for swimming, with roped-off areas for toddlers, and non-powered boating. The water was very clean when we visited. The third smaller lake is for fishing.

Occasional live music is organised until late and it may be noisy and rather crowded in high season. This site is worth considering for a holiday, especially for families with young and early teenage children as there is a superb range of sports and games facilities.

Seven top quality, heated toilet buildings have free hot water and very smart fittings. Some have special rooms for children, babies and families. Accessible facilities, Excellent dog shower. Family wash cabins to rent. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Shop (1/4-31/10). Two restaurants (one at the lakeside), two snack bars, two terraced beer gardens and a takeaway (1/4-31-10). Modern play areas on sand. Small aviary. Tennis. Bicycle hire. Minigolf. Windsurf school. Swimming and boating lakes. Fishing (charged). WiFi (charged).

Directions to Freizeitcenter Oberrhein

Leave A5/E35-52 at exit 51 and travel west towards Iffezheim. Turn south onto B36 passing through Hügelsheim to Stollhoffen where at the roundabout site is signed.
