Alan Rogers Review of Flower Camping la Châtaigneraie
La Châtaigneraie is a small, attractive, terraced site run by a very friendly family (English spoken). It is tucked away in the countryside high above the village of Anneyron with magnificent far reaching views over the valley of the Rhone. There are 71 medium sized, slightly sloping, grassy pitches, 30 for touring, away from the permanent units. Separated by hedges and young trees providing varying degrees of shade, all have 6-10A electricity. This site is popular with English and Dutch visitors, it has a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Twin-axle caravans and large outfits are not accepted.
The Drôme is a beautiful area to explore on foot, by bike or in the car. There are many old towns and villages with their markets and museums After a day of exploration you can unwind in the pool, around the bar or have a meal in the cosy restaurant with its shady terrace offering local produce and wines from the Rhône valley. A range of activities are organised in the high season for families and younger children but there is little for the active teenagers. It will suit those seeking a quieter, relaxing family orientated site but is not ideal for those with walking difficulties.
