Alan Rogers Review of Flower Camping Domaine de Gajan
Domaine de Gajan lies midway between the Cevennes hills and the Mediterranean, with good access to the Camargue. Pitches here are of a good size, flat and well shaded by trees. Most have electrical connections (16A). A range of fully equipped mobile homes and chalets are available for hire and four wooden safari tents on stilts fit well into the rural environment overlooking the countryside. On-site amenities include a bar/snack bar overlooking the large, welcoming swimming pool. A wellness centre with spa pool and sauna is a great addition. The site becomes livelier in July and August with a full programme of activities and entertainment, including themed evenings and a children’s club.
The medieval town of Sommières is nearby and straddles the river Vidourle. There is a fine Roman bridge, built on the instructions of Tiberius, and a Roman road (Via Luteva) which leads to Nîmes. The nearest beaches are at the modern resort of La Grande Motte, and the cities of Nîmes and Montpellier are both within easy reach. The Cevennes National Park offers some excellent walking and the site’s owners will be delighted to recommend possible routes.

Leave A9 autoroute at exit 27 (Lunel) and take D34 towards Boisseron and Sommières. After passing Saturargues and St Sériès, turn right (roundabout) towards Boisseron and Sommières. Continue to Boisseron and, on approach to village centre, turn right following sign to Camping Domaine de Gajan.
