Capitello Camping is an attractive and peaceful family site set near the curving River Tiber. It is efficiently run by the dynamic young owner, Alberto. The 35 slightly sloping pitches (80-120 sq.m) have electricity (5A), water and shade and enjoy great views of the medieval hilltop town of Otricoli. The swimming pool complex is a superb place for all the family with a variety of swimming and paddling pools, large soft slides and an area for relaxation.
A fascinating archaeological site is next to the campsite: the ruins of what was once a Roman city. The site is well-placed for exploring the surrounding Umbrian countryside and is only an hour’s drive from the centre of Rome.
The countryside around is rich in traditional villages, towns and archaeological sites, along with the typical rolling and green landscape. Mountain bike routes and walking trails lead from the site to nearby villages. Visitors can swim, canoe and kayak in the nearby River Tiber. The site restaurant, ‘Oli Scudi’, serves traditional Umbrian cuisine using produce from local farms. There are specific adaptations to buildings and accessible facilities, including the soft slides in the swimming pool.
Camping Capitello lies 2 km from the village of Otricoli, in the Ocricolum Archeological Area boasting an antique amphitheatre, mausoleum and baths. The Marmore waterfalls are a 40-minute drive away.
