Alan Rogers Review of Camping zum Fährhaus
Camping Zum Färhaus is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the beautiful Pied Piper town of Hameln. It is rather unkempt with a large static population and as such is more suitable as an overnight site from which to visit this historic town. Situated on the outskirts of the town and bordering the Weser river, the site is quiet. There are 70 open, grass touring pitches, all with electricity; these can be muddy in wet weather. The town is worth visiting at any time, although on Sundays at 12.00 from mid-May until mid-September the Pied Piper story is re-enacted – something for children young and old. Colourful, half timbered houses adorn every corner of the town and street cafés spill out into the pedestrian zone.
However the one thing you can’t get away from is rats; models and pictures of them are everywhere.
Facilities at Camping zum Fährhaus
Basic toilet facilities are housed underneath the restaurant building and include free showers and a laundry room. Motorhome services. Adjoining and run in conjunction with the site is a Greek restaurant with a first floor terrace overlooking the Weser. The restaurant has a small heated swimming pool and a beer garden. Bicycle hire.
