Alan Rogers Review of Camping Tiveden

On the shore of Lake Unden, near Tiveden National Park, this friendly, Dutch-owned, family run campsite is in central Sweden and lies halfway between Gothenburg and Helsinki; the major lakes of Vanern and Vättern and numerous smaller lakes are within easy reach. There are three fields with 75 grass pitches, most with 10A electrical connections and offering a choice of full, partial or no shade. There are also nine gravel pitches for motorhomes and two tent pitches by the lakeside, but shielded from the wind by trees with the lake clearly visible between the trunks. There are various walking and cycling trails from the campsite.

The lake is one of the clearest in Sweden and swimming here is very refreshing. Nearby is Tiveden National Park with hiking trails through its ancient forest and immense Ice Age rock formations. Several nature reserves are within easy reach, including Fagertärn where the original red lily was discovered and Vargavidderna where wolves have their own living environment. Tivedstorp is an old Finnish village with traditional buildings. The tiny village of Sannerud has a shop, whilst Laxå has more shops and some restaurants. Askersund, at the northern point of Lake Vättern, has colourful wooden houses and many small shops.

Directions to Camping Tiveden

Tived is 235 km. northeast of Gothenburg via E20 to Örebro and Stockholm. At Finnerödja turn southeast to Tived (campsite symbol) and continue 18 km. to campsite on right.
