Camping Pivka Jama is a tranquil campsite nestled amidst a picturesque spruce forest in the heart of Slovenia's Notranjska region. Just a stone's throw from the captivating entrance of Pivka Cave, one of the country's prime tourist attractions. Staff at reception can arrange day trip excursions to the Postojna Caves for a fascinating insight into their formation. The campsite's 300 pitches are well dispersed amongst the trees and in small clearings, all connected by a neat network of paths and slip roads. Some level, gravel hard standings are provided.

The Pivka Cave is adjacent to the campsite restaurant, which serves traditional Slovenian cuisine, offering a taste of the region's culinary heritage. There are several activities to engage in at Camping Pivka Jama. A refreshing outdoor swimming pool provides a welcome respite on hot summer days, while a separate children's pool ensures fun-filled splashes for little ones. A multi-purpose sports field caters to sports enthusiasts, while bicycles are available for rent, allowing visitors to explore the countryside at their own pace.

This is a peaceful, wooded spot and a great base for exploring the beautiful scenery of this region and historic places like the Predjama Castle (9 km), one of the world’s largest cave-based fortresses.

This good site is deep in what appears to be primeval forest, cleverly cleared to take advantage of the broken limestone forest bedrock. It even has its own local caves (the Pivka Jama). With 317 steps leading down to an underground river and a 65m gorge. The visitors' trail leads up the river before opening out into the magnificent Depression Hall with exquisite stalagmites and stalactites.

Directions to Camping Pivka Jama

Site is 5 km. north of Postojna. Leave A1/E61 autobahn Postojna exit. In Postojna follow signs to Postojna Caves (Postojnska Jama) continue past caves for 4 km. where site is signed to the right. Follow road through forest 2 km. to site.
