Fuentes Blancas is a site owned by the local ayuntamiento (town hall - municipal) but, for the past seven years, leased to and run by Jorge Arasti. Due to its proximity to the World Heritage Site of Burgos, renowned for its splendid cathedral and an ideal night stop travelling to or from the south of Spain, the site is extremely popular with visitors from across Europe. The 300 pitches (250 with 6amp hook-up) can fill quickly, and it is recommended to arrive by mid-afternoon. The many trees on site do provide a degree of shade. The site also has 29 cabins for rent. At the entrance to the site, a large, popular bar/restaurant (all year) where you can experience local gastronomy, such as ‘morcilla’ (a type of black pudding integrated with rice) and ‘lechazo’, a style of lamb.

At 4km, the city centre can be accessed via a delightful riverside walk or cycle accessed from outside the campsite entrance. From the camping, there is a limited bus service into the city in the low season but more frequent in the high season.

Facilities at Camping Municipal Fuentes Blancas

Five blocks of fully equipped sanitary facilities are kept clean and to an acceptable standard. The centre block (3) is the only location to empty chemical toilets, grey water and motorhome empty point. Water to all taps is of drinking quality. Facilities for babies, washing machine/dryer, small shop (May-Sept), playground for children and free Wi-Fi in some areas of the site. All rubbish waste is disposed of at the site entrance where you are encouraged to recycle. Some English spoken. Bar/snack bar with terrace, social room with TV and DVD and restaurant (all year). Swimming pool (1/7-30/8). Playground. Entertainment for children and adults (July/Aug).

Directions to Camping Municipal Fuentes Blancas

From the south take the A1 Madrid to Burgos road. At Burgos follow the N623 (BU-11) to Santander. Site is well signed.
