Alan Rogers Review of Camping les Ourmes
Located just 500 metres from the largest freshwater lake in France, this level, well-maintained campsite is only a ten-minute drive from the beach and, with its own pool, is an attractive holiday site for those who enjoy watersports. Of the 300 pitches, 232 are for touring units. These are marked but not separated and arranged amongst tall pines and other trees that give good shade. All have electricity (10A).
The site’s amenities are arranged around a pleasant entrance courtyard with an evening entertainment programme in season. In low season, this is a quiet site with the bonus of the bar and restaurant being open. Visits to many of the châteaux and vineyards in the area are possible, and the site owners will organise excursions to these.
The Landes forest is a short drive away and provides many kilometres of smooth cycle tracks under the shade of the tall pine trees. Ten kilometres to the west of the site, the Atlantic Ocean is ideal for surfing opportunities as well as the usual seaside activities.

Four refurbished toilet blocks. Accessible Facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Small shop (July/Aug). Bar/restaurant with outdoor tables, takeaway snacks and reasonably priced meals (Seasonal). Medium sized swimming pool, paddling pool (All season). Large leisure area, play area, Multisport pitch, volleyball. TV, table tennis, archery, football, games rooms. Boules. Entertainment, WiFi throughout (Charged). 37 mobile homes to rent.
