Alan Rogers Review of Camping les Loges
A pleasant, spacious, rural site bordering the River Allier and close to the A75 autoroute, making it convenient as a stopover when travelling north or south. There are 126 good sized, mostly level, grassy pitches with mature trees offering plenty of shade, 96 of which are for touring and all with 6A electricity. This site would suit those seeking a quieter holiday without too many organised activities, although it was busy when we visited on a bank holiday. A good sized swimming pool with water slide is a popular attraction in high season. A path leads directly from the site to a stony river beach.
The river is good for bathing and canoeing and there are many walks and bike rides in the area. Canoe hire and tours are available to book on site in July and August. It is also well placed to explore the beautiful Auvergne countryside, the extinct volcanoes of the Parc des Volcans and the many attractive old towns and villages.
Facilities at Camping les Loges
Two basic toilet blocks contain all the usual facilities. Small shop (July/Aug). Bar, restaurant, takeaway (mid June-mid Sept). TV room. Heated swimming pool with water slide, paddling pool (June-Sept). Sauna (June-Sept, charged). Volleyball. Play areas, play room. River fishing, bathing and canoeing (canoe hire). Evening dances in high season.
Directions to Camping les Loges
From A75 exit 17 (south of Issoire), turn left (D214) signed Le Breuil. Bypass Le Breuil, turn left (D123) signed Nonette. Cross river, turn left then immediately very sharp left after 100 m. – take care (site signed). Entrance is 600 m. along narrow road. Follow signs rather than sat nav.
