Camping les Casteillets in the Pyrénées-Orientales is at the foot of the Pyrenees on the French side, very close to the border with Spain. The site is one of those that can certainly claim to have it all. It is a peaceful rural spot surrounded by mountain and river views, and yet it’s a leisurely 10-minute stroll to get to shops, restaurants and the like in Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts. The site has 204 grass/hardstanding pitches, of which 134 are for touring units and have a 6/10-amp hook-up point, ten seasonal, and 60 mobile homes available to hire. The small road down to the site suddenly gets very small, winding and steep, but only for a short distance. When you get down to the site, It is very peaceful, with an unusual concentric layout on level ground near a small river.

Although Les Casteillets is mainly used as a stopover, plenty of facilities make it attractive for longer stays. In the high season, there is an excursion programme and an extensive entertainment programme for all ages. Behind the reception building, you will also find the campsite's swimming pool, and there is a separate toddler pool.

hose mountain views hint that this may well be a fine place for a country hike, but if you tire of such scenery, it will only take around half an hour to drive over to the coast for beach days at Argelès-Plage or strolls around arty Collioure. Such drives are straightforward, as the site’s a couple of kilometres from Le Boulou, where several motorways intersect. If you would like to roam without driving, there’s a bus stop in town where you can continue your adventures without having to factor in such things as parking.

Directions to Camping les Casteillets

From the A9 at exit 43. Join the D115 towards Céret. On the west side of St. Jean-Pla-de-Corts turn left near some recycling bins onto Chemin de l’Ille. Site is signposted.
