Surrounded by wooded hills and mountains, this spacious terraced site with enthusiastic Dutch owners, makes a good base from which to unwind and explore the spectacular Vercors mountains. It is quiet and peaceful, in an attractive location with pitches set on terraces that descend to a babbling stream. The 75 level and grassy pitches, 61 for touring, are separated by mature trees and shrubs, most with some shade and electricity (6A Europlug, long leads may be needed). A good bar/restaurant has a terrace overlooking the pool and the mountains beyond. Not ideal for large outfits.
The area is ideal for walking or mountain biking with many tracks in the hills, or for wild flower, bird or butterfly enthusiasts. English and Dutch are spoken.
Facilities at Camping le Gallo Romain
Two excellent toilet blocks, newly refurbished and very clean, with all the necessary accessible facilities. Small shop plus bar and restaurant (all whole season). Swimming and paddling pools (all season). Games room with large screen TV. Small play area. All facilities open all season. Internet and WiFi.
Directions to Camping le Gallo Romain
Leave A49/E713, exit 7 (Romans-sur-Isère), turn south on D149, following signs to Col de Tourniol through Barbières (12 km). Drive carefully through narrow streets in the village, the site is 1 km. further.
