Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Cormoran
This welcoming, environmentally friendly, family-run site, close to Cherbourg and Caen, is situated just across the road from a long sandy beach. It is also close to Utah beach and is ideally located for those wishing to visit the many museums, landing beaches and remembrance gardens of WW2. On flat, quite open ground, the site has 102 good sized pitches on level grass, most with 6/10A electricity (Europlug). Eight extra large pitches are available, each with private sanitary facilities. Mature hedges separate the well-kept pitches, and the site is decorated with flowering shrubs.
This modern, clean and fresh looking campsite caters for both families and couples and would be ideal for a holiday in this interesting area of France. The country roads provide opportunities for exploring on foot or by bike. There are many small towns in the area and in early June, you may find historical groups re-enacting battles and the events of 1944-1945. There is a large enclosure of pygmy goats where children are encouraged to mingle. A dedicated entrance is provided for large American units and a hardstanding area for motorhomes. Kitchen facilities are available for use by large groups and rallies. Car hire is available on site.
Facilities at Camping le Cormoran
Four toilet blocks, three heated, are of varying styles and ages but all are maintained to a good standard with accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Shop. Bar and terrace. Snacks and takeaway. Outdoor pool (1/7-31/8, unsupervised). Covered pool, whirlpool, sauna and gym (all season). Play areas. Tennis. Boules. Entertainment, TV and games room. Billiard golf (one of only three in Europe). Playing field with archery (July/Aug). Hairdresser and masseuse. Car, bicycle and shrimp net hire. Riding (July/Aug). Communal barbecues. WiFi (charged).
Directions to Camping le Cormoran
From N13 take Ste Mère-Eglise exit and in centre of town take road to Ravenoville (6 km), then Ravenoville-Plage (3 km). Just before beach turn right and site is 500 m.
