Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Clos Auroy
Le Clos Auroy is a well established and attractive family run campsite with English-speaking Dutch owners. It is just 300 metres away from Orcet, a typical Auvergne village just south of Clermont-Ferrand. Being close (3 km) to the A75, and open all year, it makes an excellent stopping off point. It has a calm atmosphere, which may tempt you to stay longer. The 85 good sized pitches are on level grass, separated by high, neatly trimmed conifer hedges, offering lots of privacy and some shade. All have 10A electricity and eight are fully serviced. Situated on a gentle hillside, the higher pitches have better views but less shade than those lower down. The bar, restaurant and pool areas are close to the reception and entrance thus ensuring the remainder of the site is more tranquil. In winter, only 20 pitches are available.
The local village of Orcet is a short but steep walk away. It has a small supermarket, a choice of bakeries and all other essential shops. Larger supermarkets can be found in Clermont-Ferrand. The nearest bank is 3 km. away in Le Cendre. Daytime entertainment is provided for children. Canoe and Kayak hire can be arranged nearby La Sioule and L’Alier rivers. Some traffic noise can be heard on the site but this is not intrusive. The river L’Auzon runs alongside the site, and its banks provide a convenient shaded dog walk.

Three very clean, high quality toilet blocks. Accessible facilities, Two washing machines, dryer. Motorhome services. Small shop, bar and takeaway (July/Aug). Heated pool, jacuzzi, pool for children with slides (15/6-15/9), terrace near bar (1/6-31/8). Playground. Coffee evenings. Children’s activities. Chalets for rent.

From A75 take exit 4 or 5 towards Orcet and follow campsite signs. It is just before the village.
