Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Bois Fleuri
The elegant city of Chartres is best known for its sublime cathedral, widely considered the finest Gothic cathedral in France and included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. Le Bois Fleuri is a small, wooded site, 20 km. from Chartres, open for an extended season. There are 78 pitches in addition to 18 mobile homes to rent. Pitches range from ‘Nature’ (without electricity) to ‘Grand Comfort’ (large pitches with 10A electricity). The adjacent park has an attractive community swimming pool and various other amenities.
On-site, there is bicycle hire and a playground for children, Inflatable structures (depending on the weather), Swings, a slide, a football field, a Badminton court, Table tennis, Trampolines, a Sandpit pétanque court and a Ninja and Zipline course. Recently added to the campsite is an uncovered heated outdoor swimming pool and a mini golf course.
Illiers Combray is best known for its connection with the novelist Marcel Proust and the town has a museum dedicated to the great man. The town’s Jardin du Pré Catalan is also worth visiting. A cycle track leads from the campsite to the town. Paris is also within easy reach, just one hour’s drive using the nearby autoroute.
Facilities at Camping le Bois Fleuri
The sanitary block is fully tiled, with some washbasins in cabins and accessible facilities. Motorhome services. Small bar, takeaway (All season) and shop (July/Aug). Bread to order. The covered picnic area has a gas stove, table, and chairs. Play area and sandpit. Trampoline. Bouncy castle. TV room. Jacuzzi, Outdoor swimming pool, Mini golf, Bicycle hire. WiFi (free in the bar).
Directions to Camping le Bois Fleuri
Leave A11 motorway at exit 3 (Thivars) and take N10 towards Chartres, then shortly left onto D114 then finally D921 to Illiers Combray. Site is well signed from town.
