La Paille Haute is quietly situated in a small village overlooking beautiful countryside, yet easily accessed from the A1, A2 and A26 autoroutes. It is an ideal overnight stop on your holiday route as well as a great base for exploring the Flemish city of Arras with its underground tunnels (begun in the tenth century and used in both World Wars), the battlefields of the Somme and the Thiépval Memorial. Of the 149 pitches, 65 are for touring on level grass and all with 6/10A electricity. Three places for late night arrivals (with electricity) are outside the barrier. The friendly owner has worked hard over the years expanding and developing this site to what it is today.
Northern France is often overlooked by holidaymakers but is full of folklore and traditions. Many carnivals are centred around giant figures based on historical people and events; there are belfries with chimes played from ancient keyboards, unique in this region, and the unusual vertical archery begun in the Middle Ages and still practised today. The nearby town of Cambrai is famous for its cambric linen and chitterling sausages and, once war-torn, is now more at peace with its architecture and history.

One modern, basic unisex toilet block. Extra toilet block by pool. One accessible toilet/shower room. Washing machine and dryer under canopy. Motorhome services. Baker calls twice daily (except Sunday). Swimming pool (15/5-8/9). Poolside bar, snacks and pizza oven and restaurant (15/6-8/9). TV in bar. Fishing pond (securely fenced). Large playground. Boules. Entertainment (in season). WiFi over part of site (free).

From A1 exit 15 take D939 southeast. After 3 km. turn left for Boiry-Notre-Dame and follow camping signs to site.
