Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Digue
The circuitous route to la Digue is worth the effort as you will be greeted with a warm welcome from its resident owners who provide their visitors with a great, yet calm, family atmosphere. There are plenty of outdoor activities available, both on and off the site. M. Elne and his busy small team organise many activities, including canoeing and fishing on the River Ardèche which flows past the site, mountain biking, hill walking and caving. It is less than 200 metres to the river and a wide beach that can be a mixture of sand and rounded pebbles. The 74 touring pitches are on grass and of a good size, with 6-10A electricity available to all. La Digue is open for an unusually long season.
The shop is open all season, as are the large swimming pool and the snack bar and restaurant. Children are not forgotten, with an excellent and well fenced playground and a paddling pool, with games organised for them. The local village of Chauzon is very picturesque. La Digue offers an alternate descent of the Ardèche by canoe, starting from the direction of Vogüé and ending in Ruoms. However the more classic descents of the Ardèche through the Gorge and towards Saint Martin can also be arranged from here. The family even has its own canoeing champions to help the organised canoe trips.
Facilities at Camping la Digue
The first rate sanitary unit is kept in excellent condition. Attractive cubicles for young children and babies and good accessible facilities. Good laundry room. Well stocked shop. Restaurant, bar and takeaway (1/4-21/10). Swimming pool (heated in season). Play area. Pony riding. Bicycle hire. Canoe hire. Tennis. Fishing. WiFi near bar and reception (free). Comprehensive tourist information and advice at reception. Mobile homes to rent. Winter caravan storage.
Directions to Camping la Digue
From the D579 Vallon-Pont-d’Arc-Ruoms road, turn left immediately on entering village of Pradon, signed Chauzon. Site is signed here. Immediately after crossing river bridge, bear right 400 m. taking ring road on left around the village following Campings signs.
