Camping le Vélodrome is a former municipal site that is now in private ownership. The area is well laid out with mature trees. There are 75 touring pitches (eight with hardstanding for motorhomes) on two levels with electricity hook ups (6/10A) and almost half have water and waste water disposal. The pitches are separated by maturing shrubs. The campsite is situated directly on the banks of the River Ancre and adjacent to several well-stocked fishing lakes (the Vélodrome ponds). This offers opportunities for fishing and enjoying the waterside scenery.
Albert is at the heart of the Somme region, which was a major front line during World War I (the Battle of the Somme in 1916). Numerous cemeteries and monuments related to this history are easily accessible from the campsite, making it an ideal base for those interested in remembrance tourism. The Somme 1916 Museum in Albert is a significant nearby attraction.
Despite it secluded setting, the campsite is within easy walking or cycling distance (around 10 minutes) of Albert's historic and pleasant town centre, where you can find supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities.
