Camping de Molignon, surrounded by mountains, is a peaceful haven 1,450 m. above sea level. The rushing stream at the bottom of the site and the sound of cow bells and birdsong are likely to be the only disturbing factors in summer. The 95 pitches for touring units (all with 10A electricity) are on well tended terraces leading down to the river. Six chalets are available to rent. Excellent English is spoken by the owner’s son who is now running the site. He is always pleased to give information on all that is available from the campsite. The easy uphill drive from Sion in the Rhône Valley is enhanced by ancient villages and the Pyramids of Euseigne.

These unusual structures, cut out by erosion from masses of morainic debris, have been saved from destruction by their unstable rocky crowns. Although this is essentially a place for mountain walking (guided tours available), climbing and relaxing, there is a geological museum in Les Haudères, which has links with a British university. Cheese making and attractive flora and fauna add interest for those wishing to explore the area.

Two fully equipped sanitary blocks, heated in cool weather, with free hot showers. Baby room. Washing machines and dryers. Kitchen for hikers. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Shop for basic supplies (15/6-15/9). Restaurant. Heated swimming pool with cover for cool weather (6x12 m). Outdoor paddling pool. Playground. Sitting room for games and reading. Guided walks, climbing, geological museum, winter skiing. Fishing. Internet corner. WiFi in parts of site (free).

Directions to Camping de Molignon

Leave the motorway at exit 27 and follow signs southwards from Sion for the Val d’Herens through Evolène to Les Haudères where site and restaurant is signed on the right at the beginning of the village.
