You'll find no noisy entertainment at Camping de Besançon La Plage, so the site is perfect for those looking for peace. This is an urban site and a great overnight stop when travelling down to the South or returning home. That said, children enjoy the sprawling lawns, spacious sports field, large swimming pool and playground. At the same time, the adults appreciate the handy location on the outskirts of Besançon and right beside the River Doubs, overlooked by the wooded hills opposite. There are 97 Pitches of average size, flat and level, and all had some tree shade, 16 amp E.H.U. and ten mobile homes to rent.

Within a short walk from the site is a large supermarket, and nearby is a tram stop from where you can be whisked to the elegant town centre. Visit the imposing citadel, the museums and 600 metres of ancient ramparts. There's plenty of scope for cycling and walking through this stunning landscape, with various designated trails according to fitness and arduousness. The site is only an hour from the Swiss border, with plenty of epic scenery to enjoy on the way.

Access to the site is suitable for any size of outfit. Reception opens for arrivals at 14.00 July/Aug 15.00 all other months, and expect to queue as this is a very busy, popular stopover site. However, the reception is up several flights of stairs and those with mobility issues would find this problematic.

Facilities at Camping de Besançon la Plage

Facilities were housed in a central block, although clean, they are very dated, and if you have mobility issues, you need to specify a pitch on the higher level, as access is up a steep, short incline. Directions to Camping de Besançon la Plage

The campsite is located at the gates of Besançon on the main road to the north east (Belfort, Montbéliard). If you arrive from the south, you will find the site one kilometre after the end of the city (Besançon) with direct access on your right.
