Camping D'Autun is a quiet country site in the heart of the Burgundy region, on the banks of a river just outside the town of Arroux. The 77-level, grassy touring pitches have electricity (10A, Europlug) and water nearby. High hedges and trees separate the pitches. To one side of the central thatched building houses the reception and bar. With more pitches to the other side in a more open area. In addition, there are nine mobile homes to rent. There is direct access to the river, and cycle routes are nearby. A big attraction here is the historic structures surviving from the Gallo-Roman period.

You can swim and canoe in the river, walk on paths that lead from the site and cycle on the marked cycle routes. The nearby archaeological sites and historic buildings are very accessible including the well preserved Temple of Janus which is just outside the town on the banks of the River Arroux and, to the east of the town, there is a large, partly restored Roman amphitheatre. There are many opportunities to sample local dishes of the area and the site restaurant serves traditional dishes and has theme nights in the summer.

Two sanitary blocks provide hot showers and washbasins (some in cubicles). Accessible facilities, Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Small shop. Bar and restaurant (May-Sept). Play area. TV/games room. Communal barbecue. Accommodation for hire, incl. three new mobile homes. Fishing. Beach and canoeing on river. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Camping d'Autun

Camping de la Porte d’Arroux is 50 km. west of Beaune. From A6 exit 24, take D981 towards Autun, then follow D681 into Autun. Site is well signed on reaching town.
