Clausensee is set in an attractive lakeside location in the heart of the Pfälzerwald (Palatinate Forest), a vast area of natural beauty, and one of the largest forests in Europe. The site has about 100 level, grassy pitches for tourers, some with shade and with electricity, fresh and waste water connections. A special area for large motorhomes and a quick stop facility are located at the front of the site.

Undoubtedly, the focal point of the site is the fairly large lake, which is suitable for swimming and has rowing boats and pedaloes for hire. Fishing is also permitted (permits available at reception). With its natural location, the site caters for all age groups - the large lakeside meadow is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing, and the playground will keep youngsters occupied.

This is excellent cycling and walking country, with hundreds of kilometres of marked rambling and mountain bike tracks to be found in the surrounding forest. The German wine route extends along the eastern side of the forest, bordering the Upper Rhine Valley. The Vosges mountains in France rise to the south.
