In the beautiful Altmühltal river valley, this Azur site is in pretty woodland, with lots of shade for much of it. On flat grassland with direct access to the river, one looks from the entrance across to the old Schloss on the hill. Outside the main entrance is a large, flat, grass/gravel field for 60 overnight tourers (with electricity). The main site has 277 pitches, of which 178 are for touring, plus two small areas for tents and one large one (at the end in an open area). Ranging in size up to 90 sq.m. they are generally in small groups marked by trees or bushes.

This friendly, well run site is a popular base for walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing and other watersports. This area of northern Bavaria is really attractive, with pretty villages and small towns, both to the west to Treuchtlingen and beyond, and to the east to Kelheim where the river Altmühl joins the Danube.

Facilities at AZUR Camping Altmühltal

The main sanitary facilities are good with free hot water (no private cabins), baby room, and an accessible unit. Launderette. Kitchen with ovens and cooking rings. These facilities are mostly duplicated in prefabricated units at the other end of the site (toilets only in low season). Motorhome services. Shop combined with reception and vending machine for drinks (including beer). Beer garden with campfire and serving snacks in July/Aug. Play area. Fishing. WiFi.

Directions to AZUR Camping Altmühltal

From the A9/E45 (Munich-Nürnberg), take exit 59 Denkendorf or 58 Eichstätt and follow the signs to Kipfenberg. Site is signed in Kipfenberg and is opposite a supermarket.
