Alan Rogers Review of Tollymore Forest Caravan Park
This popular park, for touring units only, is located within the parkland of Tollymore Forest, which is noted for its scenic surroundings. The forest park is approached by a majestic avenue of Himalayan cedars and covers an area of almost 500 hectares. Situated two miles from the beaches and resort of Newcastle, it is backed impressively by the Mourne mountains.
The open grassy site is attractively laid out with 71 hardstanding pitches, all of which have 10A electricity. The Forestry Service Rangers are very helpful and ensure that the caravan site is efficiently run and quiet, even when full. Exploring the park is part of the pleasure of staying here, and the stone bridges and entrance gates are particularly interesting. The picturesque Shimna and Spinkwee rivers rise in the Mournes and flow through the park. Tree lovers appreciate the arboretum with its many rare species.
Facilities at Tollymore Forest Caravan Park
The timbered toilet blocks have wash cubicles, showers, Accessible facilities, dishwashing and a laundry area. Fishing (permit required, available from the Four Seasons Tackle Shop in Newcastle).
