Alan Rogers Review of The Hideaway Camping & Caravan Park
A sister park to The Meadow at Glandore (IR9500), the Hideaway is ideally situated as a touring base for the West Cork region. It is a well-run site under the supervision of the owners. Although it enjoys tranquil surroundings, including preserved marshland, it is only a ten-minute walk from the busy market town of Skibbereen.
The Hideaway is a two-hectare, touring-only park with 60 pitches, including 50 with hardstanding and 6A electric hook-ups. The tent field is nicely secluded, separate from the touring area, and well-sheltered by hedgerows and trees. One long building houses reception, toilet facilities and a games room. The size of the Campsite means plenty of open space with games and other activities constantly proving popular among families staying at the site. A large playground also offers hours of fun for the children staying on site.
The coast of West Cork is broken by a succession of picturesque estuaries and bays. The narrow Mizen Peninsula makes a dramatic drive, and the old emigrant port of Baltimore and its ferry-accessible islands is Ireland with a Breton flavour. Naturally, locally caught fresh fish is the culinary treat of choice in the region and is ever-present on menus up and down this coast, and the dairy produce of its lush emerald pastures can offer a special treat.
The nearby town of Skibbereen is a bustling market town where visitors can enjoy superb shopping and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants,
with the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that has made West Cork famous. The town has many attractions, including the Heritage Centre and the West Cork Arts Centre.

The modern toilet block has non-slip floors, well equipped showers (on payment). Baby room with bath. En-suite accessible unit. Laundry. Camper’s dining room. Motorhome services. Adventure play area. Football and cycling are not permitted in the park. Electric barbecues are not permitted. WiFi on the part of the site.
