Set on 20 acres in the heart of Britain’s largest forest on the Suffolk and Norfolk borders, The Dower House provides quiet woodland walks and cycle ways, with an abundance of wildlife. David and Karen Bushell continue to upgrade the facilities without compromising the park’s natural features. There are 160 large pitches, 72 with 10A electricity. Most are reasonably level, although given the forest location there are a few tree roots. Six pitches for visitors with mobility problems are linked by a path to the main facilities. Torches are recommended as the site is unlit at night (ideal for stargazing!).

The Dower House, as well as being the owners’ home, houses a pleasant bar (open Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the season) that also serves bar meals and takeaway food (on selected days during high season). This is an ideal site for those who are seeking a peaceful rural retreat. The surrounding woodlands may be explored on foot or by bicycle, and maps are provided for the many paths around the site.

Two toilet blocks, one with a baby room. A separate building houses the showers and an accessible unit. Washing machine and dryer. Well stocked shop. Information room. Quiet rooms (no games machines). Heated outdoor swimming pool (23/5-1/9, under 16s must be with an adult). Paddling pool. Caravan storage. Torches necessary. WiFi on part of site (free).

Directions to The Dower House Touring Park

From A11 (Thetford-Norwich) road, 7 miles east of Thetford, turn right on B1111 to East Harling. Drive through village, round a right hand bend to crossroads. Turn right and site is signed just under 1 mile. Turn right onto unpaved road and entrance in 0.8 miles.
