Camping Gronselenput is a small, quiet, countryside site located at the end of a narrow, tree-lined lane. It is one of five sites run by the Paasheuvel Group in Holland. Run by volunteers, it has 60 grassy level pitches (49 for tourers, all with 10A electricity). With a peaceful location between a wooded hill and the River Geul (fishing is allowed with permit), it is popular with visitors with younger children and those seeking a quiet site. Cars are parked separately from the camping area, thus ensuring vehicle-free space. The site is set out in a series of small hedged meadows with pitches tending to be located around the edges. Gravel pitches are reserved for motorhomes.

This region of Holland, with small villages set in lush green valleys surrounded by woods and hills, is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists. Within the region there are lots of attractive bars and restaurants. The towns of Maastricht and Aachen are within easy reach and well worth visiting. The railway station is only a 30 minute walk from the campsite and on certain days there are steam train rides.

In the sanitary block hot water for showers is free. Entry to the toilets is directly from outside. Two baby areas. Washing machines and spin dryer. Gas supplies. Shop (excellent English spoken). Bar selling pizzas with a partly covered terrace facing one of the playgrounds. Large room used for organised children’s activities (July/Aug and public holidays). WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Recreatieterrein De Gronselenput

Site is near Wijlre, 10 km. northwest of Aachen. Leave A4/E314/A76 at Knooppunt Bocholtz 2 km. northwest of German border (not Bocholtz town). Follow N281 southwest for 5 km. and at junction turn right (northwest) to Wittem on N278. In Wittem, at lights turn right on N595 to Wijlre. Just after entering Wijlre site is signed to left.
