Alan Rogers Review of Parco delle Piscine
Sarteano is an ancient spa town and this large, smart site utilises that spa in its very open environs. This site is well run with an excellent infrastructure, if a little expensive. There is a friendly welcome from the English speaking staff. The 500 individual, flat pitches, (389 for touring) are all 100-150 sq.m. in size with high, neat hedges giving real privacy. Electricity (6A) is available. The three unique swimming pools fed by the natural thermo-mineral springs are a novel feature here. These springs have been known since antiquity as Del Bagno Santo (Holy Bath), and flow at a constant temperature of 24 degrees.
Two of these pools (the largest is superb with water cascade and hydro-massage, and the other large shallow pool is just for children) are set in a huge park-like ground with many picnic tables. A third excellent pool is on the campsite itself and is opened in the main season for the exclusive use of campers. A very big building alongside the spa pool houses a select restaurant on the first floor and a pizzeria on the second floor, the terrace gives fine views over the local area. Delle Piscine is really good as a sightseeing base or as an overnight stop from the Florence-Rome motorway (it is 6 km. from the exit). Access to the attractive town is directly outside the site gate and it is worth exploring, especially the massive fortress with its drawbridge (straight out of a toy box!)

Two heated toilet blocks are of high quality with mainly British style WCs, many cubicles also with bidet. Accessible facilities, Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Restaurant/pizzeria with bar. Takeaway. Coffee bar. Swimming pools (one all season). Excellent play area for children. TV room and mini-cinema with 100 seats and very large screen. Tennis. Exchange facilities. Free cookery lessons and art classes in high season. Free guided cultural tours. Internet. Free WiFi over site. Dogs are not accepted.
Directions to Parco delle Piscine
From autostrada A1 take Chiusi/Chianciano exit, from where Sarteano is well signed (6 km). In Sarteano follow camping/piscine signs to site (entrance sign reads Piscine di Sarteano).
