Alan Rogers Review of Parc Pen Y Bryn Campsite

Parc Pen Y Bryn is situated on the edge of Clocaenog forest, a 15-minute drive from Llyn Brenig and 25 minutes from Betws-y-Coed. This laidback, small-scale holiday park on the edge of Snowdonia National Park is open all year.

There is hardly a house to be seen at this secluded spot, where you can admire valley views and, in the distance, watch wind turbines turning slowly in the breeze. Well-placed outdoor furniture is available for those looking to sit in the open air and take it all in. The site has 11 hardstanding touring pitches with electric hook-up points; there are also 3 log cabins available to hire.

Llyn Brenig is likely to prove popular with experienced fishing fans. There is also bike hire available and six varied lakeside trails to choose from. Betws-y-Coed is a hub for train fans, who can contentedly chug along on the Conwy Valley narrow-gauge railway. A short walk outside the town is the Swallow Falls, where you can watch the Llugwy foaming over the rugged rocks. Make sure to visit Clocaenog Forest where miles of walking and cycling trails are waiting to be explored. Peaceful woodlands, heather moorland, streams, waterfalls and lots of wildlife including red squirrels are just some of the things to look out for here.
