Monte das Louzeiras is a family-run campsite with Swiss and Portuguese roots, where guests are invited to connect with the way of rural life. This is not a typical campsite, but rather an immersive experience on a sprawling 40-hectare estate, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. There are 25 spacious touring pitches available to choose from, situated among olive trees that provide shade and seclusion from other campers.
Guests can get involved in wine and olive oil tastings, and the hosts, Ana Luisa and Marc, are known for their warm hospitality and can arrange for breakfasts featuring local products for you to enjoy back at your pitch. BBQs and meals are also organised in the evenings, where you are able to meet fellow campsite guests who are staying on site. The campsite is also home to a menagerie of animals, including sheep, horses, peacocks, and even an ostrich. A key feature is the swimming pool, which is a perfect spot to cool off during the warm Alentejo afternoons. The traditional patio, surrounded by orange and lemon trees, offers the perfect setting for relaxing and socializing.
The campsite's location makes it an excellent base for exploring the wider Alentejo region. The historic town of Serpa, with its castle, medieval walls, and rich cultural heritage, is a short drive away. Nature enthusiasts can venture to the nearby Guadiana Valley Natural Park and the impressive Alqueva Dam, the largest artificial lake in Western Europe, which offers opportunities for water sports and stargazing in a designated "dark sky" reserve.
