Alan Rogers Review of Lowther Holiday Park

Sitting on the banks of the River Lowther, this holiday park occupies 50 acres of rural, wooded parkland, home to the rare red squirrel. There are 400 caravan holiday homes and lodges around the park, together with 70 touring pitches. Seasonal lets take a proportion of these. Marked and numbered, on mostly level ground between mature trees, all have 10A electricity and hardstanding. A separate elevated grass area is available for tents, and two pods have been added.

A small touring office with 24-hour security is adjacent to the holiday home sales office. Here, too, is a well-stocked, licensed shop selling caravan accessories. The Squirrel Inn is open all season and serves restaurant meals and takeaways.

Outside is a large paved seating area with a play area to one side. A lovely riverside walk has been created with many benches to rest and enjoy the birds and other wildlife.

Facilities at Lowther Holiday Park

Two toilet blocks are central to the touring areas (key entry). They are very clean, and they provide large, preset showers. Fully equipped bathroom with baby changing. Drive-through motorhome service. Well-equipped laundry. Full Accessible sanitary facilities(Radar key). Licensed shop. Squirrel Inn has a restaurant, terrace, and games room. Play areas. Fly fishing on the river (permit from office). Activity weekends. Live entertainment and children’s parties. Max. 2 dogs per unit.
