Alan Rogers Review of Long Acres Touring Park

An attractive, adults only site on the Lincolnshire Fens north of Boston, yet only six miles from the coastline of the Wash, Long Acres is a purpose-built park opened in 2008 and attractively laid out to take maximum advantage of the great variety of trees and shrubs. Ranged on either side of the park’s single road, the 40 pitches, all with 10A electricity hook-ups, are on hardstandings separated by well tended grass to cater for tents and awnings. The beaches and attractions of Skegness are an easy drive away, whilst for nature lovers, Gibraltar Point, Snipe Dales, Freiston Shore and Frampton Marshes are also within easy reach.

Nearby Boston has a range of shops, plus supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. The fenlands are ideal for walkers and cyclists with miles of lanes and quiet roads to explore. The shoreline of the Wash will give birdwatchers ample opportunities to indulge their passion, and it is possible to take boat trips from Boston down the River Witham out into the Wash. Inland are the Lincolnshire Wolds and the historical World War Two airfields, including Coningsby, home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Woodhall Spa has the famous Kinema in the Woods and at nearby Tattershall is an unusual brick-built castle (NT). Between the two villages, the pub used by the Dambusters is well worth a visit.
