Alan Rogers Review of Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site

Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site. This adult only, delightful little gem of a site is bordered by beautiful woodlands in The Royal Forest of Dean. It’s a short drive from Lydney, Coleford, The Wye Valley and The Welsh Border. The site has 10 well-spaced pitches, each with hard standing plus electric hook up points. Free Wi-Fi. There’s a toilet block (hot water shower 20p coin to operate) chemical toilet and disposal point. A fresh water tap. Wastewater disposal is provided. Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control and walked off site. Woodland walks and cycle trails are easily reached directly from the site. This peaceful site sees many species of birds and a wonderful assortment of wildlife. Locally, there are plenty of picnic sites, cafes and pubs that welcome dogs. The site does not accept tents.

Situated a short distance from Lydney and Coleford and the Welsh Border it is also ideal for touring the Wye Valley. There is places to eat and drink within a mile of the site and local places of interest include The Speech House, Go Ape at Mallards Pike, The Dean Forest Railway at Norchard, Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood and Tintern Abbey.
