Alan Rogers Review of Ferienpark Arber

Ferienpark Arber is a large site on the outskirts of the pleasant town of Zwiesel, right in the heart of the Bavarian Forest and not far from the Czech border. There are views up to the tree-clad hills and a stream runs through the campsite. Not surprisingly, this is fantastic country for hiking and cycling with 320 km of marked trails that take you through some of the finest scenery in Germany. Zwiesel is well known for its skiing and winter sports, as well as its long heritage as a centre of exquisite glass making.

The campsite is on a slight slope with 300 grassy pitches, 200 of which are for tourers, with partial shade. There are various dedicated areas, with an open, grassy section for motorhomes, and another for caravans, all with electricity (some 10A Euro, most 16A German) and water points along the central roadway. Another area is reserved for dog owners and there is an overnight area of hardstanding just outside the entrance. A large pool complex is next door comprising a deep Olympic size pool, a separate pool for children and non-swimmers and a natural pool, open high season.
