Camping Nettuno is owned and run by the friendly Mauro family, who speak excellent English. Nestled in the bay of Marina del Cantone, it is situated in the protected area of Punta Campanella, away from the busiest tourist spots. As a result, the approach roads are difficult and narrow. This small campsite of only 60 pitches (with 4A electricity available) is spread over three levels above the pebbly beach, and there are about 60 mobile homes. Up several steps and across the road are the amenities, reception, shop and dive centre, and then above this is a restaurant with magnificent views over the bay. Pitches are informally arranged, some with a fabulous sea view (extra charge), most with shade. Because the site is tucked into the hillside pitches are small and close together, but there is plenty of cheerful assistance to find the best place. The site has two pathways to the nearby beach that, unusually, for the area involves little walking or steps.

With their own diving centre, a designated BIZAC dive site, this is a popular site for all divers. Excursions are arranged to the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast on alternate days, there are also diving and snorkelling trips and excursions into the natural park area only accessible by boat. Reception staff will supply maps of country walks in surrounding areas. There is an interesting 500 years old stone tower on the site that has been converted into four apartments. The small village of Marina del Cantone is just 100 m. walk away and is renowned for its beautiful quality cuisine – often boats moor outside the marina especially to dine here.

The single central sanitary block includes accessible facilities (and access via a ramp to the beach). Washing machine. Basic motorhome service point. Gas supplies. Small shop. Delightful restaurant with sea views. Bar (lively at night). Dive centre. Excursions. TV in bar area. Small play area. Free tennis arranged at court next door. Fishing. Bicycle hire.

Directions to Camping Nettuno

From A3 motorway (Naples-Salerno), take Castellamare di Stabia exit onto S145. Pass Castellamare, follow signs to Meta di Sorrento via tunnel and turn off towards Positano in Meta. After 5 km. turn to Sant’Agata dei due Golfi (6.5 km) then on to Nerano and finally Marina del Cantone. Site is well signed. Continue 100 m. then turn round to negotiate steep, narrow entrance.
