An exceptional site with super facilities, Los Madriles is run by a hard working team, with constant improvements being made. Twenty kilometres west of Cartagena, the approach to the site and the surrounding area is fairly unremarkable, but the site is not. A fairly steep access road leads to the 313 flat, good to large sized terraced pitches, each having electricity, water and a waste point. Most have shade from large trees with a number benefiting from panoramic views of the sea or behind to the mountains. The site has huge rectangular and lagoon style pools with water sprays and jacuzzis.

These are fed by the thermal waters first used by the ancient Romans and, unbelievably, are emptied every night after they close at 10 pm. They are refilled by morning with fresh water, thus doing away with the need for chlorination. Simple snacks are served in the bar and attractive area near the pools. The campsite is immaculately clean and has excellent sports facilities. There are lots of walks in the region, and the ancient Roman city of Cartegena with its Roman amphitheatre, ancient bull ring and port (once admired by Napoleon) is well worth a visit. In between the popular winter season (50% British) and summer, through the months of May and June, the site is very peaceful, temperatures are in the mid twenties, with spring flowers and other flora abundant.

Four sanitary blocks and one small toilet block provide excellent facilities, including accessible facilities in one block. Private wash cabins. Washing machines and dryers. Motorhome services. Car wash. Supermarket, restaurant/snack bar and bar (all open all season but hours are limited). Swimming pools with jacuzzi. Boules. Play areas. Pets are not accepted. WiFi over site (charged, or free in certain areas).

Directions to Camping Los Madriles

From E15/A7 exit 845 follow RM3 towards Cartagena, Fuente Alamo and Mazarron (do not turn into Mazarron). Continue towards Puerto Mazarron and take N332 (Cartagena). On reaching coast continue on N332 (Cartagena, Alicante). At roundabout turn right towards Isla Plana and La Azohia. Site is signed and on the left in 5 km.
