Camping la Verna is a small, country campsite, 850 m. above sea level, on the edge of the Casentino National Forest and close to the beautiful historic village of Chiusi della Verna, which is widely known as an area of religious retreat and pilgrimage. There are 90 pitches of varying sizes on terraces and set amongst tall trees. They are mostly level, on grass and sand and all have 10A electricity. The limited facilities at Camping la Verna include a small pool, a bar and a restaurant/pizzeria. This is a peaceful and remote site suitable for campers who enjoy simple pleasures.

There are medieval hamlets and other sites of interest in the area, including the sanctuary of San Francesco. This village is known for its association with Francis of Assisi and as the birthplace of Michelangelo, whose father was governor of the area. Della la Chiusi is near the ancient Via Major, an important Roman road making the area an ancient centre of commercial enterprise.

Facilities at Camping la Verna

One new toilet block (2012) offers British style WCs and pushbutton showers. Washing machines. Bar, restaurant and pizzeria with small terrace. Communal barbecues only. Torches very useful. Small, outdoor pool (15/6-15/9). Excellent adventure style play area. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. WiFi over part of site (charged).

Directions to Camping la Verna

Site is in village of Chiusi della Verna, north of Arezzo. From E45 go to Pieve Sto Stefano. From here take P208 to Chiusi della Verna. Site is well signed in the village. From the west on the P208 involves a very long winding drive – great views but hard driving.
