Set on a hillside, within the Sierra Peña de Francia and with views of the romantic walled village of Miranda del Castañar and its charming, crumbling castle, this site is run by a Dutch couple, Eddy and Vera.

In total, there are just 30 level touring pitches, all between 80-120 sq.m. and all have 6/10A electricity. The pitches are beautifully set in 2.5 hectares of the most attractive natural woodland. Owners of large caravans and motorhomes (max. 7m.) should contact the site first due to the minimal number of suitable pitches. There are rough tables and chairs made from local stone, a fountain fed by a well and a small stream which traces a route through the site.

The owners have kept an exhaustive list of all the birds and other wildlife spotted around the campsite, and in one area there are beautiful luminous green tree frogs and other aquatic reptiles (you will hear their ‘barking’ at night in the May mating season). A copy of the site regulations is provided on arrival to all campers, along with your own rubbish bin. If you wish to explore some of the unique villages in the area you may wish to avoid La Alberca which has been spoiled by over exploitation. Several walking routes from the site, maps are provided.

Directions to Camping El Burro Blanco

The road to Miranda del Castañar is 7 km. northeast of the village of Cepeda. Turn off main SA-225 road signed Miranda. After 1.2 km. downhill towards town look for left turn onto a concrete road. Follow for 1.1 km. (a short stretch unmade) and site is on right.
