The first vision of California Camping on the approach is the excellent lagoon-style pool complex with its bridges and large fountain surrounded by palms. All facilities are shared with the very large population of holidaymakers in rental accommodation. A smart bar, pizzeria and restaurant complex are in an octagonal building overlooking the pools. The 420 pitches for touring units (4A electricity) are large, arranged mainly in close, level, shaded rows. Cars are parked separately in high season. The long, grey sand/shingle beach is cleaned daily; it is virtually private and easily accessed.

A great effort has been made to maintain large areas of cool green grass, giving a feeling of space and a very pleasing appearance. It is ideal to relax on, especially near the pools and café. The sporting areas are also of a high standard. There is a very pleasant feel to the site and visitors were enjoying themselves when we visited. This is certainly due to the fact that it is a professionally run site where the staff are keen to please.

Facilities at California International Camping Village

Nine refurbished blocks contain varying facilities and some investment will soon be required. These include accessible facilities. Hot water for showers but only cold at sinks. Showers are concentrated in one block (therefore a walk for some). Supermarket. Excellent restaurant, bar and takeaway. Large lagoon pool complex. Minigolf. Amphitheatre. Tennis. Discos. Play areas. Entertainment. Miniclub. Boat hire. Fishing. WiFi (charged). Communal barbecues. No charcoal barbecues on pitches. Dogs are not accepted.

Directions to California International Camping Village

Site is 100 km. north of Rome off the SS1 between Ortobello and Civitavecchia. At Montalto di Castro take minor road to the coast and Montalto Marina. On approach to town, site is clearly signed.
