Located between the three largest Frisian lakes, Slotermeer, Heegermeer and Sneekermeer, De Rakken is a great choice for both nature and watersports enthusiasts. Woudsend is a good watersports resort with a wealth of catering facilities and places of interest (mills and churches) just two minutes on foot from the site. The site offers boat moorings and bicycles, electric boats and car hire. The 40 touring pitches are reasonably sized, and all have 6-16A electricity, with 15 on hardstanding (20 with drainage). Accommodation to rent on-site includes hikers’ cabins and attractive chalets. De Rakken is open all year.

Around Woudsend there is an abundance of unspoiled nature, woodland, meadows and polders. The ancient Frisian towns of Sneek and Workum are close at hand, and have museums, good shops, theatres, cinemas and historic buildings. Sneek is one of the Frisian Eleven Cities and dates back to the 13th century. The town centre is delightful and the 17th-century Waterpoort (Water gate) is of particular note.

Directions to Aquacamping De Rakken

Take A6 northbound (Heerenveen) and a few kilometres past Lemmer take the exit to Woudsend (N354). At the roundabout before Woudsend, go left (N928, Balk) then turn right at next roundabout. Follow signs to the site.
