Alan Rogers Review

Set in woodland within the privately owned grounds of the Snelston Estate, this site presents a charming, tranquil haven for those seeking a leafy retreat. The 900-acre estate has walks on local footpaths. The 52 pitches, constructed from local limestone are level, each with 10A electricity hook-up. Expect to see shafts of light falling on irregularly arranged pitches allowing a sense of privacy within the tall trees that give the site its name. These trees help screen out low level traffic noise, which is much reduced at night. The modern, clean toilet block is tastefully coloured to blend with the surroundings.

Woodland Caravan Park is situated just a few miles south of the Peak District National Park and the market town of Ashbourne with shops and restaurants. It has good facilities on site for dog walkers. An enclosed area allows dogs to be let off the lead. Motorcycle enthusiasts may also enjoy nearby Darley Moor, a small independent motorcycle racing circuit with a limited number of meets (visitors should check dates). At most times, visitors can relax in the woodland setting; those who enjoy walking can access some of the footpaths on the estate. Children are encouraged to make dens in the woodland. The owners will supply good maps of the various walking routes at reception. Tittesworth, Carsington and Rudyard Reservoirs are within easy reach offering boating opportunities.

One modern, clean, heated toilet block has a room for disabled visitors. Ample low level lighting on site. Laundry. Microwave. No motorcaravan services. Separate, enclosed area for dog walking. Reception offers advice on waymarked walks. Site has eco-friendly water handling. WiFi over site (charged).
