Alan Rogers Review
Le Castellas is an amazingly large site stretching for 2 km. alongside a super 14 km. sandy beach with the Etang du Thau behind. Although there is a main road and railway line, once within the confines of this site there is everything one could want for a happy beach holiday. Over 800 mobile homes, chalets and ready erected tents to rent occupy various areas of the site. There are also 125 sandy and hedged pitches for touring units, most with 6A electricity and some 25 purpose-built for motorhomes. Pitches are accessed by hard roads with a variety of shade – the sorts of shrubs that will grow by the sea.
Because of its situation security is tight and includes gate codes to the beach. There is an emphasis on sporting activites and entertainment with all ages being provided for, although families with younger children are likely to be the most appreciative. There is a sports area under pine trees along with a restaurant and bar, all well managed. In season there is a small train to take you around the site. Should you wish to leave the beach, a short drive will take you to Sète, Marseillan-Plage and Agde.
Adequate toilet facilities. Laundry. Provision for disabled visitors and babies. Fridge and barbecue hire. Large supermarket, range of smaller shops and cafés open to public as well. Restaurant, bars, snack bars. Swimming pool complex with lifeguards (heated April-June). Toboggans. Games room. Multisport court. Sports field. Archery. Bicycle hire. Play area, bouncy castles. Outdoor fitness area. WiFi (charged). ATM. Wide range of entertainment. Miniclub and teenage club (July/Aug). Sea fishing. Watersports. Gas barbecues only.
LocationSite is beside the RN112 which links Marseillan-Plage and Sète (nearer Marseillian-Plage). This road can get very busy indeed in main season but it is being re-routed behind the site. Link to campsite location map on google
