Alan Rogers Review

Camping le Bois d’Amour is a member of the Village Center group and can be found on the edge of the Escoublac forest, close to La Baule and its celebrated beach. There are 200 pitches here, some of which are very large (150 sq.m). The camping area is well shaded and most pitches have electrical connections. Several mobile homes and fully equipped Ecolodge tents are available to rent. This is a quiet site in low season, but livelier in July and August, with an activity and entertainment programme for all ages.

La Baule is one of France’s great traditional resorts, but only became popular in the late 19th century with the arrival of the railway from Saint Nazaire. Many of the town’s great buildings, such as the very grand Hermitage Hotel and the stylish casino date from this period. The little seaside town of Saint Marc-sur-Mer can be easily reached and is a delightful small resort, best known for the classic film, Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday.
