Alan Rogers Review
Birchington is a growing village in a rural setting, a short distance from the coast with its choice of several fine beaches. Margate and other coastal towns are close by. The site is well laid out with pleasant flower beds. A large section is devoted to mobile homes, with two further large areas housing the touring pitches. They have little shade but all are large, level, numbered and easily accessed. Two Chimneys is a quiet site in low season, but becomes very lively during the peak period. Occasional rallies and exhibitions are held.
There is a popular diner located away from the reception block, and a bar, shop and amusement arcade within it. The swimming pool has a movable cover and the first hour of each day is reserved for children and parents. There is a host of interesting sights to visit in the area, including very the Spitfire Museum at Manston and the newly reopened Dreamland in Margate.
From West: at roundabout at junction of A253 and A299 take second exit. Fork right into Plumstone Road signposted Acol. Turn right into Margate Hill. Turn right then sharp left into Shottendane Road. Site (signposted) is on right.
